Kicking off this month with our homecoming dance on September 16. Here are some tips to help with your before-homecoming plans!
Most underclassmen coming into their first high school dance don’t know exactly what to do when taking pictures. Coming from someone who was a freshman once, you wonder where we go to take pictures and when. Well, we have the most popular and interesting spots to go to. There are many essential spots people go to. For example, Hager Park or downtown Grand Rapids but there are so many other options.
Pictures and food
Where’s the best spot to take pictures? “We normally go to Grand Ravines or on the Blue Bridge downtown, which is a common place to take them for a lot of people. ” Is there anywhere else you have gone? “Yeah one year we did some at a gas station and playground to get some fun pictures that are different from what everyone else does,” says Annabelle Napper, senior at Jenison High School. And when is the best time to go take pictures? “I think it depends on the time of the dance but since this dance is at 7 pm I’d say go take pictures a few hours before so maybe 4 pm,” says Annabelle Napper.
Another possible thing underclassmen need to think about is when and where to get their food. Figuring this out can be a common struggle for a lot of students. They’re not sure of a lot of restaurants they can go to, but we’re here to tell you it doesn’t even need to be a fancy one. Go to whatever place has your favorite food. All that matters is that you’re having fun and enjoying the food.
Where do you get food for homecoming? “DJ’s Pizza,” said Livia Bisonet, a senior at Jenison High School. And do you get food before or after pictures? “After so that you don’t look bloated in the pictures” noted Livia Bisonet
The hardest thing to figure out is who you go with. Well, when picking your group there are certain things you want to think about:
Is it better to go with friends or significant others in a big group or small group? “Depends on how big of a group you’re thinking of if it’s over 8 people then probably not so I’d say a small group of close friends,” said Lola Nelson, Senior at Jenison High School.
Advice
You may be wondering what else is there to know I have planned my pictures, food, and group. Well of course some advice from upperclassmen:
What advice would you give students who have never attended a high school dance before?
Although these key factors can’t guarantee you have a good time they will guide you in that direction, so you can avoid any problems you may have in your planning of the dance.
Hope these tips and tricks on where to go and what to do can help you out in preparation for the dance.
