“The world of Borderlands 2 is a place where irreverent space-western sci-fi collides with trailer-park horrorshow hostility, and all of it is shot through with rambunctious playground humour. The planet of Pandora is equal parts Firefly and Mad Max, with all of the dialogue and plotting taken care of by the creators of South Park.”- Nick Cowen freelance video games journalist for the guardian. Since 2012, this video game has changed many people’s lives. One plays this game to escape reality and go into the world of Pandora. “One of the main reasons to play Borderlands 2 – aside from the compulsive nature of its loot drops – is the insane arsenal available to the player. Guns here come in all shapes, sizes, and colours. Some shoot electrically charged bullets. Some fire incendiary rounds or bullets filled with corrosive acid. Some transform into a grenade when you reload them. Still more come loaded with AI pacifist chips that plead with the player not to kill anyone with them.”- Nick Cowen freelance video games journalist for the guardian.
Borderlands Series
The Borderlands series consists of four games, with a fifth one in development. It began in 2009 with the original Borderlands, followed by Borderlands 2 in 2012. After a seven-year gap, Borderlands 3 released. The most recent installment, Tiny Tina’s Wonderland, came out in 2022. Plans for Borderlands 4 are underway. Among these, Borderlands 2. Considered by many to be the best game in the series.
The Playthrough
Borderlands 2’s main story unfolds on the planet Pandora. Players navigate through dangerous environments, facing various enemies, including bandits, creatures. Cnquering armies of Hamesome Jack. Players team up with non-player characters (NPCs) to defeat Handsome Jack. The game also offers side missions that enhance the experience. The fast-paced nature of the gameplay, seen as a positive aspect. Setting it apart from slower-paced games.
Characters of Borderlands
“Essentially, Zero, Axton, Maya and Salavador are steroid-enhanced versions of the four characters (Mordecai, Roland, Lilith and Brick) from the first Borderlands, and as before they all have a set of three talent trees. Each time the player levels up, they’re assigned a point to spend as they wish, and since it’s fairly impossible to fill up all three talent trees before the game’s level cap of 50, it pays to specialise. Talents start off as fairly rudimentary – more health, more shields, more gun damage and the like – but at high levels, they turn the player into a vicious two-legged wrecking ball. At high levels, for example, Salvador’s dual-wielding expands to encompass any sort of weapon he can get his hands on, so if you fancy taking aim at a target with two massive rocket launchers, have at it.”– Nick Cowen freelance video games journalist for the guardian. The characters of Borderlands are good, yes, but are they the best? That’s where people may say no. Ben Rogers, a JHS student and a Borderlands enjoyer, says this: “Robots make Borderlands 2 incredibly entertaining.”
Experience
The experience of the game is variable. It depends on who you are and what you like. “This game is amazing and a must get. There is enough content to entertain you for hours, especially with the DLC. I have put like a 1000 hours into this game across multiple playthroughs, characters, and platforms. The story is great, It has one of the best villains in gaming history and very distinctive graphics (cell shading or something, I think it’s called). The characters are so memorable, and the gameplay is amazing. Due to the abundance of guns, mods, shields, etc, and enemy types and locations. This game is up there as my favourite of all time alongside Bioshock, and I keep coming back to it. You don’t need to play Borderlands 1 beforehand, as it’s a new story. But there are some reoccurring characters, so I recommend it. The pre-sequel is not necessary, though. In overall… GET THIS GAME!!!”- A reviewer on IMDB. The game is one of the best games I’ve ever played.
