Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is a popular 5-on-5 tactical shooter video game that has been gaining a lot of traction over the past year. There are many people interested in Siege, they want to get it but may get warded off by the above-average price tag. Ubisoft is making the game free to play soon with the new season. They are going to call it “Siege X”, so more are considering hitting that download button. Taking a moment to look into what the game offers may help make up your mind.
Gameplay
Rainbow Six Siege is full of game modes you might recognize from other FPS (First Person Shooter) games. From team deathmatch to the game’s signature bomb mode, there are many ways to play the game. Outside of the Free For All game mode, all the games take place in a 5-on-5 team format. Each game has its differences in the way it’s played and the strategy involved. Games such as Hostage, Secure the Area, and Bomb all have their strategy to ensure you come out on top. Each requires you to bring in the right operators to get the job done. Each game mode has its downsides, from getting spawn killed to taking a long time to load into a match. Some Arcade modes such as Golden Gun and Weapon Roulette take a long time to load into a game, yet they are some of the most enjoyable. The other Arcade modes, Team Deathmatch and Free For All, don’t take long to load into. The downside is spawn killing can ruin it.
Graphics
Siege has intense graphics, running the game on a laptop might ruin it if it lacks the capabilities. NVIDIA says you need one of their GeForce GTX 970 to run the game on a PC. That graphics card is one of the highest-rated graphics cards by PC builders. The graphics on Siege are amazing, you wouldn’t know the difference if it weren’t for the screen. Yet, the lighting is poor. Ubisoft hopes to fix this with Siege X. Siege will always stick to the feel of realism. That is something hard to create with a video game. You can’t do it without graphics and Siege does graphics well.
Bugs & Glitches
Much like any video game, Siege is bound to have some sort of bug or glitch within the game, no matter how much Ubisoft updates the game. Some let you see through walls or ceilings. Others allow you to reach places that are otherwise unreachable. This gives you angles that are close to impossible for the opponent team to counter. The glitches and bugs that are in the game take a long time to set up unless you and your team all know what to do and can do it often. This balances the game until they can patch it. It is hard to cover up bugs, especially in a game where a bug could mean the difference between win and loss. Ubisoft has done an incredible job in patching bugs as they come.
Enjoyment
Enjoyment of Siege is one of the most polar topics you may come across in gaming at the moment. People either love the game or they hate it. You can see this through Google’s reviews about the game alone, a majority of the reviews are either one-star or five-star. The people who love the game talk about the strategy involved in the game. The people who don’t love it talk about some of the bugs, which got fixed or will get fixed soon, or talk about the “steep learning curve”. There are a lot of reasons for both sides of the reviews. The game is a great tactical shooter that involves a lot of strategy. This strategy comes with a steep learning curve that may deter newer players. It is a fun experience with the right people or with your friends. Sometimes you will get thrown into matches that are straight-up infuriating. The game also does have its fair share of bugs and glitches. But, they are very minor and players usually complain after something happens to them once.
