Students around the school are starting to decide what classes they want to take next year. Students are frustrated and confused about which classes they want to take. With students not being able to talk to their counselors this can help you figure out some options as well as what other peoples thoughts are.
AP chemistry
Students have said that their classes become more difficult during the second semester. They are getting into new work using information they learned from the previous semester. “I’m pretty sure my classes this semester are harder than last semester” said by William Schehaous, a junior at JPS talking about AP Chemistry.
Highly praised classes
A lot of students around the school say that AP Government is an enjoyable and interesting class. It has been one of the most full up classes having over 3 sections. It is one of the AP classes that end up with the highest scores on the end of year test. Many students pick this AP Government as one of the first APs they take. As Eric Martienez, a junior at Jenison put it “My favorite class is AP Government because you get to learn a lot about what the United States is about. Also the US’s history and how certain laws come into place and how they changed or reversed”.

Science APs
Many people also reported that a lot of the AP science classes are very difficult. They spend a lot of their time studying for just those classes. A lot of the work comes from the packets that students get sent home with. Some of these contain pages upon pages of complicated equations. Since many students drop them in the first few weeks they are also some of the smaller classes. Eric Marteniz said that “I would definitely want to switch out of AP physics. It is a lot of outside of the box thinking along with math that you wouldn’t really use in daily life”.
Avaliable math options
Some classes are required for the last year of highschool. Since you need a math credit, students usually have to pick between AP Stats and AP Calc. If you are on the advanced track you can also end up taking AP Calc BC. Which is a more difficult version of AP Calculus. Most students end up going with Statistics which by many seems to be considered the easier option. Here William Schehaous says “In my senior year I’m definitely gonna take AP Stats so my senior year is not too difficult”.
Students are picking their classes for the next year right now. Kids are asking more and more questions about classes in the school. Students aren’t allowed to talk to counselors which makes it difficult to figure out what you need and what you want to take.
In the end every student is going to need different classes to help with their future studies. I’m hoping this article can help you understand which classes you are looking into taking. This decision can influence how your next year of highschool goes so do not take it lightly.
