What does sociology mean/refer to?
Sociology is the study of human behavior, which applies to many things. The University of North Carolina of Chapel Hill stated, “Unifying the study of these diverse subjects of study is sociology’s purpose of understanding how human action and consciousness both shape and are shaped by surrounding cultural and social structures.” Sociology is in things such as, “romantic love, racial and gender identity, family conflict, deviant behavior, aging, and religious faith.” Sociology can be more at society’s level including things like, “crime and law, poverty and wealth, prejudice and discrimination, schools and education, business firms, urban community, and social movements.”
Why is studying sociology important/how is it useful?
Sociology involves many job interests. The majority of jobs include learning their behavior such as body language communicating, and building bonds with people by connecting. A student that attends Jenison High School, Jenison offers a sociology class. Most high schools do not offer a sociology class. A sociology class will raise awareness to young people which benefits the future. Sociology plays such a big role in society and we shape our own societies. Everyone has a role to play in the world. We all need to put aside our differences and understand each other. The study of sociology is not only important but it can be fascinating to learn about. Taking the class can help set a student on the right path to achieve their goals in the future.
