2022 World Series review
The 2022 World Series has ended and there is a winner.
Phillies vs. Astros played against each other in the World Series. They would take turns who would be the home team so both teams could get home-field advantage. The start of the series was on Oct. 28 and the last game was on Nov. 5. This was for the championship and baseball is one of my favorite sports to play and watch.
What did both teams have to do to make it there?
The Astros dominated the AL all through the playoffs. They did not lose a single game of the playoffs until they played the Phillies in the World Series. Phillies had to work harder to get to the World Series because of who they played. They didn’t win their division in the regular season so they had to play in the wild card. After winning that they then had to go on and play one of the best teams in the league. Phillies came out hot during the start of the playoffs. Beating everyone they played even though record-wise they were not the best. The Astros did even better not losing a game until the World Series. The Phillies fell short of the Astros losing in a best-of-7 series 4-2.
The favored team to be in the World Series
The two teams favored to be in the World Series were the Astros and the Dodgers. This would have been a rematch of the 2017 World Series. Knowing the upsets that happen in sports all the time the Phillies were not seen to be in the World Series. Most people thought it would be someone other than the Dodgers like the Mets or Braves. The Astros were a clear favorite all the way for the American League.
The favored team to win between the Astros vs Phillies
The favored team to win was the Astors against the Phillies and people thought it would be a quick 4-5 game series. The series lasted 6 games and the Phillies put up an impressive fight against the Astros. I didn’t think the Phillies would do as well as they did. My thought was it would have been a quick series as well. The Phillies started hot like they have been doing but the Astros got them.
Interesting series between the two teams.
In game 1 the Phillies found themselves down 5-0 at the end of the third inning. They didn’t let that stop them and rallied back and tied the game in two innings. They would hit the go-ahead run in the top of the 9th and win it. In game 3 the Phillies went on to hit 5 home runs which tied the record for most home runs in a World Series game. The very next game the Astros pitching threw for a combined no-hitter the second in history to take game 4.
This was one of the more interesting and unique sets of games that I have watched. Both teams were fun to watch and were rooting for individual players that I like on both sides.
