The Jenison homecoming game

October 6, 2022

The Jenison football team takes on some tough competition against Grand Haven this week at home during the Wildcat’s homecoming game.

The Jenison football team has been putting in many hours of work this season. They are working their hardest to be the best they can be. The Jenison football team is looking for a big win in week four against Grand Haven and put up zero points this week.

The Jenison Wildcats have struggled a lot this year with finding a groove and playing as a whole team. Sometimes the offence will do amazing and the defence won’t play the best. If they can find a balance where both the offence and defence work together to be the best we can. Dane Devies a lineman for Jenison said “Defending grand havens pass game will be the biggest struggle”. Grand haven is an ok team but did not play their games against Rockford last week because of injuries. This is not good for them but great for Jenison.

Last week’s game against east Kentwood was upsetting for the team because of the loss. On the defensive side of the ball, Jenison did amazing getting 3 intersections and a fumble recovery. Leo vandintorn had his best game of the year breaking up several passes and getting 1 of the 3 intersections. And Riley Russo had a big fumble recovery and got Jenison the ball back. Ethan Dehoop, a fan, said “ It was a great game watching the defensive side take charge and run the field. I wish we could say the same for the offence”. The Jenison offence has had a rough time trying to find a groove in games.

On the offensive side of the ball, in the last 2 games, the Jenison offence has been unable to put points on the board. whether messing up plays or not getting the ball to where it needs to go, The offence The biggest struggle we will see this week is play execution. How the team can come back from 2 rough games is also a concern. Eli a fan of Wildcats said, “It’s all a mental game. It’s how you think and react to what’s going on around you”. He is very right. Your eyes need to be moving and you need to be able to move at the right angle to make a play.

Friday’s game against Grand Haven is all going to be about cleaning up those mistakes. But they need to start working as a team to make something happen. The effort will need to be there. Everyone needs to give a hundred percent effort to come out with a win against Grand Haven high school. After the game, the team will celebrate our big win at the homecoming dance on Saturday, October 1st.

The Jenison football team is a good team this year. They have put in hours of work coming in during mornings and nights and 2 a days. It is all going to pay off against Grand Haven. But it is all going to come down to how the team plays together and how every player plays.
