How to be more creative

March 23, 2022

How do you stay positive? How do you keep calm? It is all a part of the mindset that you continue living with. Creativity works the same way. Students attending Jenison High School mentioned the reasons why they enjoy art. All students in this interview were seniors and in an art class. They are looking to the next part of their life, wondering if they will go to college for art.

“How do you become more creative?” That is the age-old question that many people try and figure out throughout the span of their life. Feel free to take inspiration from what you hear in these next few paragraphs.

Some artists at Jenison High School told me about their journey in art. How did the Seniors at Jenison get interested in pursuing Art?

Jayden G responded, “All of the techniques that can be learned from the classes that are offered at school are fascinating.”

An artist’s favorite work of art is very subjective. The artist may love their creation, but the viewer may have other thoughts. Does every artist always have a favorite piece?

According to Teague S, “I don’t have one favorite piece of art, I enjoy the process of the journey.”

Jayden G also mentioned, “My favorite piece of art is named ‘Jungle’, and I created it in my Junior year.”

Art is always fun to create, and the outcomes of many masterpieces are great. Sometimes, your works are more so happy accidents than intentional brushstrokes. With all good, must come some evil in the art world. Judging a painting is very frowned upon in the art industry. Real artists look forward to what an artist can put out next, rather than what they have put out.

Most Jenison AP art students are not hesitant to find out how they performed in this advanced course.

It often can be tough to stay creative in today’s day and age. We have social media right at our fingertips. We can search for any piece of artwork

from the past few centuries. Instead of creating, we can admire. With this mindset, we tend to lose our sense of creativity. So, around Jenison, how do you stay creative?

Some ways that some art students at Jenison mentioned were very inspiring.

“Try and look outside of the box. Look for new ways to do things that you haven’t explored before” – Logan G

“You can look up inspiration or artwork to give you ideas.” – Jayden G

There may be many different ways to live in creativity. You can grab a brush, and start to paint, sketch, or whatever medium you most enjoy working with.

All in all, the best way to stay creative is to think outside the box. If someone asks you a question, ask them a question back. They might think you’re crazy, but you might spread a bit of positivity into our ordinary world.
